NMP is colorless transparent oily liquid with slight amine odor. It is miscible with water, alcohol, ether, ester, ketone, halogenated hydrocarbon, aromatic hydrocarbon and castor oil. Low volatility, good thermal stability and chemical stability, high boiling point, low viscosity, low corrosion, low toxicity, biodegradability, volatilization with water vapor, hygroscopic, and sensitive to light.
