Peru Customer Case: Ion Exchange Resin Testing and Cooperation for Natural Pigment Extraction
In 2025, our company began cooperation discussions with a customer from Peru who focuses on the extraction and purification of natural plant pigments for food and industrial applications. During the initial communication, the customer shared their demand for six types of ion exchange resin to be used in different stages of their pigment extraction process.
Among these requirements, two projects were already in stable production. For these existing lines, the customer planned to replace their current exchange resin with a new ion exchange resin to improve adsorption performance and reduce operating costs. Before making a full replacement, they requested laboratory and pilot testing of our resin samples to verify compatibility with their current system.
The other four projects were new developments. These new production lines required completely new resin solutions. The customer expected the ion exchange resin to achieve selective adsorption, stable regeneration, and consistent purification efficiency during repeated cycles. Therefore, they arranged systematic testing of each exchange resin grade under different pH values, temperatures, and flow conditions.
To support the evaluation, we supplied several customized ion exchange resin samples, including both strong and weak functional group resin options. Our technical team provided application data and basic operation guidance to help the customer understand how each exchange resin would perform in pigment separation and impurity removal.
During testing, the customer compared adsorption capacity, desorption rate, and cycle stability of every resin. The two existing projects first completed replacement trials using our ion exchange resin, and the results showed stable operation and easier regeneration. Based on these findings, the customer continued testing the remaining exchange resin products for their new projects.
For the four new lines, the selected ion exchange resin demonstrated good selectivity for target pigments and effective removal of unwanted components. The resin also showed consistent mechanical strength and low pressure drop, which helped maintain smooth processing. After multiple cycles, the exchange resin maintained stable performance, meeting the customer’s production requirements.
Following several weeks of verification, the customer confirmed that our ion exchange resin could be applied to all six projects. They then decided to proceed with batch orders of the required resin grades. This cooperation started with testing and gradually moved to regular supply, based on practical evaluation of the exchange resin performance rather than short-term comparison.
This project reflects our standard working approach: providing suitable ion exchange resin, supporting technical testing, and allowing customers to select the right resin based on real process data. For industries such as pigment extraction, food ingredients, and natural products, selecting the correct exchange resin and ion exchange resin is an important step in achieving stable purification and efficient production.
We will continue to supply reliable resin solutions and technical assistance to customers who require ion exchange resin for separation and purification processes worldwide.
