What are the main uses of lithium carbonate?
Lithium carbonates is an inorganic compound with the chemical formula Li2CO3. It is a colorless monoclinic crystal or white powder. It has no deliquescence and is stable in the air. It is thermally stable below 600°C and begins to decompose at 618°C. It forms lithium oxide and carbon dioxide, with a density of 2.11g/cm3 and a melting point of 618°C. It is soluble in dilute acid solution. Lithium carbonates battery grade has a negative temperature coefficient. Its solubility in water decreases as the water temperature increases. Its Solubility is less than other alkali metal carbonates. It does not form double salts with Na2CO3 and K2CO3, so it is easy to separate from other salts and precipitate in a purer form. Insoluble in alcohol and acetone. High-purity lithium carbonate can be obtained by heating the lithium carbonate slurry and then cooling, crystallizing, precipitating and refining.
