There are currently three types of production processes for NMP.
The first is the pyrrolidone method, which uses pyrrolidone and halogenated alkanes as raw materials.

The third is the GBL method, which uses γ-butyrolactone and a mixture of methylamine or monoamine as raw materials.
Currently, BDO is mostly dehydrogenated to produce γ-butyrolactone, which is then mixed with a solution of methylamine to produce NMP.
Therefore, the price of BDO has a crucial impact on NMP.
