N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone (NMP) is a powerful aprotic solvent with high solvency and low volatility. This colorless, high boiling point, high flash point and low vapor pressure liquid has a mild amine odor. NMP has high chemical and thermal stability and is completely miscible with water at all temperatures. NMP can be used as a co-solvent for water, alcohols, glycol ethers, ketones and aromatic/chlorinated hydrocarbons. NMP is both recyclable by distillation and readily biodegradable.

NMP is a very important auxiliary material for the production of lithium ion batteries. It is generally used as a Cathode coating solvent, or as a solvent for conductive paste of lithium ion batteries.

Plant Protection

NMP can be used as a solvent or co-solvent for the formulation of insecticides, fungicides, herbicides, seed treatment products and bioregulators where highly polar compounds are required.NMP is given preference over other highlypolar solvents because it is exempt from the requirement of a tolerance when used as a solventor co-solvent in pesticide formulations applied to growing crops, and it possesses a favorable toxicological and environmental profile.

Electronic Equipment Manufacture

The production of integrated circuits (ICs) calls for products of very high purity. The Electronic Grade NMP exceeds in all points the standard established by SEMI (Semiconductor Equipment and Materials Institute). This makes NMP a desired solvent for the electronic industry and producers of printed circuit boards.
