2023-03-21

The CAS number of 1,4-butyrolactone is 96-48-0. 1,4-butyrolactone is relatively stable at room temperature, but hydrolyzes when heated under strong alkaline conditions. The hydrolysis of 1,4-butyrolactone is reversible, and under neutral conditions, lactones are produced. Pyrolysis of 1,4-butyrolactone occurs when it is heated to 305 ℃ in an airtight manner. 1,4-butyrolactone is stable under acidic conditions, but under alkaline conditions, it can undergo various chemical reactions such as oxidation, reduction, hydrolysis, condensation, amination, esterification, addition, halogenation, and alkylation, generating a series of important chemical products.

In terms of solubility, 1,4-butyrolactone can be miscible with ethanol, ether, chloroform, and other organic solvents, and slightly soluble in water. It can dissolve most commonly used natural resins, as well as nitrocellulose and cellulose acetate. It has good solubility in various oils and fats, and is an excellent solvent for rubber, triglycerides, rosin, paraffin, etc. Dissolve 0.05% (mass fraction) in water at 20 ℃ and 0.5% (mass fraction) in 1,4-butyrolactone in water.

1,4-butyrolactone has good reaction performance and can be used to produce pyrrolidone, butyric acid, succinic acid, paint remover, etc. It is widely used in the synthesis of fine chemicals such as pharmaceuticals and spices. It also has strong solubility, good electrical properties, and stability, and is commonly used as a solvent for resins.
